This is a official statement from Technics Panasonic in Osaka, Japan

Panasonic reactive statement - Production of analogue turntables has ceased

Panasonic has confirmed that it ceased the production of its Technics-branded analogue turntables this autumn.

After more than 35 years as a leading manufacturer of analogue turntables, Panasonic has regretfully taken the decision to leave this market. However, Panasonic will continue to sell headphones under the Technics brand.

We are sure that retailers and consumers will understand that our product range has to reflect the accelerating transformation of the entire audio market from analogue to digital.

In addition, the number of component suppliers serving the analogue market has dwindled in recent years and we brought forward the decision to leave the market rather than risk being unable to fulfil future orders because of a lack of parts.

Panasonic employees who have been working on the analogue turntable range have been redeployed elsewhere within Panasonic - many of them continuing to work in Panasonic´s Audio Video Business Unit.

   What can be said about the 1210 mk2 that people don't already know. Every top Dj and club has them as the standard Dj turntable due to thier extreme build quality and performance. The SL 1210 Mk2 has and will forever be the best Dj & hifi turntable, the world has ever seen in mass production.

Slmusic Review - Technics Sl 1210 / 1200 Mk3 - MK3D

The 1210 Mk3, This turntable was Technics prototype to the later MK5. It holds a lower spec to the MK5 but has the reset button and sunken strobe of a MK5. Technics stopped producing this turntable a few years after it's release. In my opinion this turntable is the ugly duckling in the Technics 1210 range and would advise anyone to choose a MK2 or MK5 version over this due to it never had no place in the series after the 1210 MK5 release.

Onto the Technics Sl 1210 MK5, This turntable has all the features from the MK3 but Technics upgraded them for the better, The MK5 came with a LED target light as standard & + 6 anti skate. This turntable has worth while upgrades over a 1210 MK2, like the smooth pitch from the MK3. The MK5 made a real name for itself in the Dj world and as a past owner of this turntable i can see why.

This turntable deserves a page of its own. The Technics 1210 M5G is the ultimate vinyl mixing machine, Its Technics 30th anniversary limited edition turntable. It holds a impressive digital pitch control so if you think a MK2 will hold a mix this will stick in a mix like a Pioneer CDJ 1000 Mk3. Technics didn't stop there the whole tone arm has been fully upgraded + been finished in a custom satin look. The looks of the 1210 is outstanding its in a class of its own only Technics could put a deck like this on the market . Bravo.
